Mark sings tenor for Common Garments, is married to Gay Clark. Mark and Gay have two children, Yancey and Hunter. They are members of Stewart Baptist Church, he serves as Chairman of Deacons and is Sunday School Superintendent as well as sings in the choir.
Mark originally from Clifton Forge, VA; but has spent the last 33 years Covington, GA. He has been walking with the Lord for over 20 years. Mark credits his mom and dad for putting him on the Christian road and setting the example to follow. His mom has gone to be with the Lord, but knows she is watching and is proud of her son. He still looks to his dad for encouragement and guidance in just about everything.
Mark has always loved to sing, but never had the nerve to sing in front of a crowd. One day Mark' wife, Gay, told him that the Lord will take that talent away if it is not used. After much thought and prayer, Mark felt that she was right and needed to sing for the Lord and lift His name up. The first time he sang was at church. He was so nervous that he had his back to the congregation when he started. He was hooked after that and started singing with a local group called "Vessels of Praise" from 1995 May 2004.
He beleives very strongly that the Lord has a purpose and a reason for everything that He allows to be done, we just do not realize at the time. About 12 years ago, he heard Melton Campbell sing at a private function. That is when Mark told his wife that he was going to sing with Melton one day. Yea right, sure she replied. Earlier this year, Melton contacted Mark and asked if he knew of any tenor singers that would be interested in singing with an all male quartet. This is when Mark said that he was available. Mark and Gay prayed about the change from singing with Vessels of Praise and through several confirmations from the Lord, decided to join "Common Garments." On June 5th, 2004, Mark joined Common Garments.
